As soon as Lauren Graham’s Talking As Fast As I Can hit the shelves in late 2017, I knew that it had to be on my TBR list. She is one of my favorite actresses, with a career spanning from movies to television. I mean, Gilmore Girls was a life line growing up. And I was equally as excited for the reboot as most women my age were (Um...excuse me Netflix execs... are we going to get another season?).

What I was not expecting from her book however was how great it is written and how much advice the actress offers. And not just run of the mill advice. She pulls from all aspects of her life as a waitress, a kid who skipped kindergarten, the choice to age gracefully, to a girl who liked to wear her father’s clothes, and brings to life a charismatic and enjoyable book.

Further in to the book, she recounts writing advice she received from a well-known scriptwriter. And let me just say...I was not expecting to walk away from the book having been motivated to write more. I mean, I never thought of her as a writer. A great actress? Yes. Definitely. But in her sophomore novel, Graham proves that she's got the writing chops as well as acting. Graham’s personality shines through on the pages, culminating in it feeling like you are sitting and catching up with an old friend. It is honest. It is funny. And most of all, a really great read.
